Objective
eSteward addresses the need to create a consistent approach to stewardship across a university, giving colleges and departments the means to develop strong relationships with their donors and to create a means of accountability to those donors.
Solution
Penn State University had a variety of systems that eSteward was able to bring together in order to create a complete picture of a donor's relationship with the university. Colleges and relevent offices (student aid, donor relations, etc.) met in order to help define the collective needs of the university. Part of this process involved the creation of a stewardship coordinator position at each college to help manage the use of eSteward as a tool for stewardship.
The eSteward system has given colleges and departments easy access to all the information necessary to thank donors in a timely manner and to tell donors how their money is being spent. eSteward gives users access to the endowment information and activity in order to help ensure the donor's desires are being met. The system has succeeded in giving users more up to date information in one easy to use website and to allow them to more effectively do their jobs.
